Vintage train rides and railyard tours
The Danbury Railway Museum operates out of the restored Danbury Union Station with a 10-acre railyard containing over 60 pieces of historic railroad equipment. From April through November, families can ride The Railyard Local, a 30-35 minute train journey aboard vintage coaches, cabooses, or the locomotive cab, plus tour the grounds year-round.
Indoor & outdoor · Rainy-day pick
Train rides operate Saturdays and Sundays April through September, with special Pumpkin Patch Trains in October and Santa Trains in December.
Locomotive cab rides are first-come, first-served and limited to 1-3 people per trip; arrive early on weekends for availability.
The Railyard Local includes a stop at the historic turntable and pumphouse, so kids get more than just a ride.
Museum is open year-round, so you can visit in any season, though train rides are seasonal.
