Woodland trail loops with firepit areas
Marcus E. Cooke Memorial Park in Wallingford offers well-maintained blazed trail loops through woodland, originally built by the Wallingford Grange in the early 1950s and donated to the town in the 1960s. The park features a parking lot with a trail map showing firepits and includes some short steep sections, though terrain is generally manageable for families.

Multiple loop options allow you to choose your distance; the largest loop passes near Interstate 91 three times but at safe distances.
Early spring (March onward) shows well-maintained trails; this is a good time to visit if you're concerned about overgrown sections.
