Paved trails through reclaimed golf course
Pistol Creek is a former golf course in Berlin and Middletown with over 4 miles of paved walking paths that wind through reclaimed land as nature returns. The north section near the Berlin parking lot is flatter with views of former fairways, while the south section across Atkins Street in Middletown features steeper terrain, a pond crossed by a bridge, and more mature forest.
Outdoor · Quiet-friendly
Northern paths are easier and less steep; southern section has significant hills and steep grades.
Paths can be icy in winter; several stretches were noted as dangerously slippery.
Parking is at the former clubhouse on Spruce Brook Road in Berlin for the north section.
South section offers better wildlife viewing, including frequent bird sightings.
