Classical ballet, beginner to advanced
Rye Ballet Conservatory in Rye teaches classical ballet using Balanchine technique across multiple levels, from Lower School through pre-professional training. The school operates from two locations: the Rye Arts Center with a sprung dance floor and permanent barres, and The Chapel, a renovated 19th-century stone church with state-of-the-art studios.
Indoor · Active · Rainy-day pick · Programs for ages 3 and up
Parent observation of classes happens only during the week of Martin Luther King Jr. Day; regular class visits are not permitted.
Students arrive 15 minutes early to stretch and warm up; arriving more than 10 minutes late means sitting out to take notes instead.
Hair must be in a secure high bun for all classes; jewelry except stud earrings is not allowed.
The school runs mid-September through early June, then offers summer sessions in June and August but closes entirely in July.
Nutcracker auditions happen in early September for interested dancers; younger dancers rehearse at RBC in Rye and older dancers rehearse in Manhattan.
