Paved trail for biking, walking, skating
The South County Trailway is a 14.4-mile paved rail-trail stretching from Elmsford to Yonkers through Westchester County, offering a tree-lined route for biking, walking, and skating that passes through parks, woodlots, and along the Saw Mill River despite its urban surroundings.
Free · Outdoor
Tree roots have created ridges in the asphalt surface, making it bumpy for strollers and bikes with small wheels.
The trail has plentiful shade from tree cover, useful for hot summer days.
Parking is available at the northern endpoint in Elmsford; the southern endpoint at Van Cortlandt Park also has access.
Multiple stretches pass trailside businesses and restaurants, giving options for food and water breaks along the route.
