Wetland trails, fishing pond, nature play
The Thielke Arboretum is a 16-acre wetland forest in Glen Rock with over a mile of winding trails connecting gardens, a spring-fed pond, and specimen trees; it features a nature play area for young children, seasonal educational programs aligned with New Jersey standards, and a pond stocked annually with trout, bluegill, bass, catfish and sunfish.
Free · Outdoor · Rainy-day pick · Quiet-friendly · Programs for ages Pre-K through high school; nature play area for young children
Trails are open daily dawn to dusk, year-round, making it easy to drop by for a quick nature walk.
School groups and scouts can book guided programs taught by volunteer docents.
The pond is stocked seasonally and open for catch-and-release fishing; no license required for children under 16.
One adult must supervise every nine children (age 12 and under), so plan group size accordingly if bringing multiple kids.
