Free stargazing nights with telescopes
Westchester Astronomers hosts free stargazing nights called Starway to Heaven at the Meadow parking area of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, where families can observe the night sky through telescopes, including the club's 20-inch Dobsonian, or look through members' equipment.
Free · Outdoor · Quiet-friendly · All ages welcome; children under 16 restricted from laser pointer use.
Children can look through members' telescopes for free; no equipment of your own is needed.
Arrive around sunset to set up; the Meadow lot has portable toilets but no electricity.
Children under 16 cannot use laser pointers, but can observe and ask questions about the sky.
Pack insect repellent and dress warmly; observing takes place outdoors in all seasons.
