View night sky through telescopes
Westport Astronomical Society runs a public observatory in Westport where families can view the night sky through volunteer-operated telescopes on Wednesday evenings, plus attend free monthly science lectures featuring visiting researchers.
Free · Outdoor · Quiet-friendly · All ages welcome
Public viewing nights run 8pm-10pm Wednesdays (weather permitting); check the homepage before you go, as cloudy or rainy nights mean closure.
Dress warmly; this outdoor event gets cold, especially in winter months.
Parking is limited; overflow parking is available at the Aspetuck Health District lot at the bottom of the hill.
Bring groups larger than five people; email the observatory in advance so volunteers can plan accordingly.
In June and July, don't arrive until after sunset (around 9pm) since there's nothing visible until then.
