Revolutionary War fort and formal garden
Fort Stamford Park in Stamford preserves a Revolutionary War fort built in 1781 to defend the area from British raids, with earthen mounds still visible and a tree dating back to the era still standing. The park also features the Goodbody Garden, a formal Italianate garden with a pergola, sunken garden, and fountain maintained by the Stamford Garden Club.

The earthen mounds of the original fort are still visible south and west of the formal garden.
A Revolutionary War-era tree over 250 years old stands to the west of the garden; it survived the fort's era and is still living.
Photographers and families visit regularly to photograph the formal garden, peonies, magnolia blossoms, and butterflies.
