Small children need constant supervision here; the other playground at Louis Engel Park next door is better if you want more hands-off play.

The trail offers a mix of crushed stone, dirt, and grass surfaces suitable for walking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing, with varying difficulty across its length.

The northern section from Croton Dam to Ossining is most comfortable for families and horseback riders.
